Founder’s Note

It is with supreme pleasure and unbridled excitement that we bring to fruition the inaugural Placencia Restaurant Week. As a “new Belizean,” I am proud to call Placencia my home and I take great joy in promoting the destination, showcasing its dynamic allure, and assimilating in to this colorful community. I’m always looking for ways to improve the peninsula for locals and visitors alike and evolve our tourism product. Placencia is a potpourri of peoples, a microcosm of so many cultural and ethnic cuisines. We should be a foodie’s dream destination! Inspiration for PRW came from my past experience working in a media group that partnered with Atlantic City Restaurant Week- a long-running and wildly successful annual event. Akin to Atlantic City’s food scene, the Placencia Peninsula is an epicurean wonderland of international eats and a range of dining options running from humble roadside stands to elegant seaside resorts. When I joined the Board of the BTIA, it was a no-brainer that I pitch a similar event be held here to showcase our talented chefs and superb restaurants. A hallmark of Restaurant Week is its affordability and tremendous value, creating an opportunity to experience our fine dining options without breaking the bank. I hope you take advantage of these delicious eight days and indulge yourself.
